Maple Leaf Foods is planning to build a new slaughterhouse in London, ON that will kill 500,000 birds per day. 

They have operated in secrecy for the establishment of this new facility, pushing for backroom deals and distracting the public with the promise of jobs. They have failed to highlight that not only is this slaughterhouse providing LESS jobs than the three facilities it is replacing, and that slaughterhouse jobs are some of the least desirable jobs in our society.  Slaughterhouse workers often suffering from physical and mental health problems. 

This new slaughterhouse stands to harm the environment. It will mean increased pollution and emissions, runoff into local nature-conservation areas, and the destruction of many wild animals' habitat. 

The future is plant-based. The Canada Food Guide is urging Canadians to shift their consumption towards plant protein, and Maple Leaf themselves are marketing the construction of a new plant-based meat factory in the US.

Maple Leaf and the public know that animal exploitation will be a thing of the past very soon. Tell them to STOP THE LONDON SLAUGHTER PROJECT and invest in a sustainable and healthy future for Canadians by building a plant protein factory instead.
