Airline travel these days can pose many challenges. Below are some simple tips that will help make dealing with airport security less nerve-racking.
Pack carefully so that you meet all of the regulations. For instance, like there is now a security rule in place that only allow 3 ounces or less of lotions, gels or liquid substances to be in your carry-on bag. These liquids must be housed in clear plastic bottles so that the security workers can clearly see what you’re carrying.
You can put the plastic bottles in storage baggies like zip lock bags. Remember, if you have larger amounts of liquids that you want to carry with you, check them through in baggage claim and pick it up on the other hand.
The luggage now has a weight limit of 50 pounds or less, so to avoid long delays in baggage claim lines and weigh your bags ahead of time. Balance the weight between your carry-on bag and your check-in luggage. If it’s too heavy, they’re not going to take it. So, it’s better to carry less and cut the hassles to a minimum.
Airlines now require that you arrive early, and most airports have websites where they give passengers up-to-date information about any delays that are happening with flights.
Current rules state that you should arrive at the airport at least two hours ahead of time in order to get through security so you should check your outgoing flight to make sure of the time it’s leaving and arrived two hours ahead of that.
Make sure you have all your proper papers and identification ready. Different trips require different types of IDs. Find out what papers you need in order to take your flight with a minimum of hassle and delay. For domestic flights, you need to have at least a driver’s license or a photographic ID like a school ID. Have your ID out when you get into the security line, and that will speed things along.
Where easy-to-remove shoes. On all domestic flights, passengers are now required to remove their shoes. Wearing a pair of shoes that takes you 10 minutes to get out of is just plain silly, and will slow you down in the security process. Instead, invest in a pair of airline shoes, comfortable slip-ons that come off quickly and you can get back into them is equally as fast.
Beverages are prohibited get rid of them before you go into the security line. As well, no beverages are allowed on board the plane. Quench your thirst before you board. If you take these easy, simple steps, your time in the security line will be shortened considerably.
