Your dream of traveling, by RV, is finally a reality! Now you need a little guidance for planning your first RV trip. Below are a number of important tips which focus on planning and preparation, helping to ensure that your RV trip is just how you imagined it would be.
If you don’t already own one, your first step would be to make the arrangements to obtain one. A popular option for first time RV travelers is that of renting, just be sure to book your reservations as soon as possible. This is particularly true when your rental options are limited.
If you own an RV or if you are in the process of buying one, be sure to have it inspected by a professional mechanic, before your trip, this is extremely important for long distance trips. Also be sure to include RV insurance, or at least roadside assistance, on your vehicle’s policy.
Now decide where you want to go. Having a set path to follow will help you from getting lost or running into trouble along the way, even if you were just are interested in visiting friends and family, you will most likely want to make a few stops along the way. For safety sake, always notify the friends and family, staying back home, of your plans on where you will be going and for how long you will be gone.
Always check to see what reservations need to be made. Examine your overnight accommodations. Do you plan to stay at a hotel or will you be staying in your RV? Both options may require making reservations. Remember if you plan to camp out, you will want to be sure the park or public campground will accommodate your RV..
Always walk through the RV. Examine the kitchen area. What items will you need in preparing snacks and food? What about the bathroom area? Be sure to bring health and beauty products, such as soap, toothpaste and toilet tissue, as well as towels and washcloths. Buying and packing your supplies as soon as possible, enables you to make last minute adjustments when needed.
Finally, when you take the time to properly plan and prepare for an RV trip, especially when traveling for the first time, you are more likely to enjoy yourself and worry less.
