Traveling by RV for the first time can be fun and exciting, it can also be worrisome at the same time. These tips are ideal for first time motor home travelers and are mapped out as follows.

1 – Mapping Out Your Route Ahead of Time

Decide where you want to travel and plot out your trip ahead of time. For your overall satisfaction and safety always have an idea of where you will be heading including the stops and recreational detours in between.

2 – Researching Activities and Attractions Before Your Trip.

Along with the above mentioned tip some researching of activities and attractions, that will be located along the way, will help provide a less bumpy road along the way. You can obtain a wealth of information on the INTERNET, while spontaneity may be lots of fun, having an exact idea of what you can do and see is ideal for safety, as well as making sure that you don’t miss out on any great opportunities.

3 – Make Sure Your RV Is Stocked Full of Activities

Sightseeing is a nice, enjoyable activity, but it may not hold anyone’s interest for very long. By including movies, a laptop computer, hand held electronic games, books, or bringing other fun hobbies it will make the road trip a more pleasant one. This is ideal for when your motor home adventure is an extended one, and especially important when traveling with children.

4 – Pack for Your Trip Ahead of Time

Create an RV trip checklist. The list should include specific items that you would like to bring, such as clothing, food, drinks, eating utensils, towels, wash clothes, and so forth. To help get you started, many websites have free printable camping checklists, which can serve as great guides. Be sure to check off items when you pack them in your bags or place them in your motor home.

5 – Always Keep Safety in Mind

As with any recreational activity, it is important to remember that there are always risks associated with traveling in any type vehicle, especially in areas that you are unfamiliar with. Safety steps should always be taken to insure protection of you and your family. Before you leave give your itinerary to someone that you know and trust, always be aware of your surroundings and park in a well lit area whenever possible, always keep a cell phone nearby, and be sure to have a fully stocked first aid kit in a easy to access area.
