Are You On A No Fly List?

Every day millions of Americans fly to various destinations around the country and abroad. Although most of these people don’t have a problem, there are a few that run into problems after 9/11. One of the problems that a person may find they have is that they have been added to the airport no-fly list.
The no-fly list was designed to stop people from flying who might be a hazard or thought to be dangerous, for one reason or another. However, in recent years, there have been a number of individuals who were mistakenly placed on the no-fly list. These mistakes happen because of misspelled names and identities that appear to be the same as a person who is dangerous.
For instance, if you have the name John Smith, you might be placed on the no-fly list, because there are a number of John Smiths whose name is bogus. You may not be bogus, however. there may be 10 other John Smiths out there who are looking to doing something wrong while flying.

So what do you do about it? You can get your name taken off of the no-fly list, but you should remember that you’re dealing with bureaucracy, and nothing happens overnight with the government.
If you’re notified that you are on the no-fly list at the airport, you can be certain that you won’t be able to board an airplane and fly. Airport security can’t take your word for it that you are not at risk. If you go to the airport, airport security might even detain you, which of course leads to a bigger hassle. What’s you’re released, you will then be able to take steps to have your name removed from the no-fly list. But, know this; you definitely won’t be flying anytime soon.
The first thing you’re going to need to do in order to get your name off of the no-fly list is to contact the Transportation Security Administration or the TSA. You will be provided with contact information by airport security. You need to make that call as soon as possible, or visit the Transportation Security Administration website, where you can easily get a phone number and information about who to call as well as information that allows you to order forms to be mailed to you to fill out.
When you get the forms, you can fill them out and submit them with three pieces of identification. The accepted types of identification include your drivers license, a military card, Social Security or voter registration card, your passport or birth certificate. After submitting all the required documents, you will have to wait for the government to process them and remove you from the no-fly list.
This could take up to a few months, or as little as a couple of weeks, so if you’re planning on traveling you will want to get started with this early on. Once your name is removed, you will once again be able to fly.

Air Travel Made Easy

Airline travel these days can pose many challenges. Below are some simple tips that will help make dealing with airport security less nerve-racking.
Pack carefully so that you meet all of the regulations. For instance, like there is now a security rule in place that only allow 3 ounces or less of lotions, gels or liquid substances to be in your carry-on bag. These liquids must be housed in clear plastic bottles so that the security workers can clearly see what you’re carrying.
You can put the plastic bottles in storage baggies like zip lock bags. Remember, if you have larger amounts of liquids that you want to carry with you, check them through in baggage claim and pick it up on the other hand.
The luggage now has a weight limit of 50 pounds or less, so to avoid long delays in baggage claim lines and weigh your bags ahead of time. Balance the weight between your carry-on bag and your check-in luggage. If it’s too heavy, they’re not going to take it. So, it’s better to carry less and cut the hassles to a minimum.
Airlines now require that you arrive early, and most airports have websites where they give passengers up-to-date information about any delays that are happening with flights.
Current rules state that you should arrive at the airport at least two hours ahead of time in order to get through security so you should check your outgoing flight to make sure of the time it’s leaving and arrived two hours ahead of that.
Make sure you have all your proper papers and identification ready. Different trips require different types of IDs. Find out what papers you need in order to take your flight with a minimum of hassle and delay. For domestic flights, you need to have at least a driver’s license or a photographic ID like a school ID. Have your ID out when you get into the security line, and that will speed things along.
Where easy-to-remove shoes. On all domestic flights, passengers are now required to remove their shoes. Wearing a pair of shoes that takes you 10 minutes to get out of is just plain silly, and will slow you down in the security process. Instead, invest in a pair of airline shoes, comfortable slip-ons that come off quickly and you can get back into them is equally as fast.
Beverages are prohibited get rid of them before you go into the security line. As well, no beverages are allowed on board the plane. Quench your thirst before you board. If you take these easy, simple steps, your time in the security line will be shortened considerably.
Tips To Beat Jet Lag

If you travel internationally or even if you only travel coast-to-coast, you know that jet lag can affect you for days after you land. If you don’t want to be subject to jet lag, here are some quick tips to help you out.
If you find yourself on a red eye flight or you’re flying international overnight, one of the first things you might want to consider is something to put you to sleep. If you can sleep on the flight, you will wake up and feel fresh and full of energy, and jet leg won’t have such a firm hold on psyche. You should definitely invest in one of those airline pillows. You know, the ones that are made to go around your neck. This will be one of the best investments you make for flying.
Next. get yourself an MP3 player like an iPod and put some really relaxing music which you can listen to as you fly. Invest in some good earbuds like Bose, so that you can drown out the sounds around you. The last thing you want to have happen is to be kept up all night by a screaming baby, people shuffling by to and from the bathroom or flight attendants walking up and down talking.
Get yourself one of those block-out masks, you know, the ones that celebrities wear and movie stars used to wake up in bed with. You want to darken your environment as much as possible, and try and simulate being at home in bed. You also want to block out all of the night owls on the plane who were probably up reading with their lights on.
Set your watch to the time zone that you’re visiting, before you get on the plane, and keep a close eye on the time. Go to sleep at your bedtime in the new time zone and not the old one. Take a bottle of melatonin, which helps some people or whatever sleep aid you have that you know will put you to sleep. Avoid drinking alcohol while flying, because it will only dehydrate you and keep you awake. Instead, drink a lot of water. Make sure you set an alarm so that it wakes you at the proper time in your new time zone.
If you follow all of these tips, you will minimize the amount of time that you suffer jet lag, and maximize the fun that you’re going to have it your destination.
Air Travel: Clothing

With the recent increase in airport security and the recent change in air travel rules, there are many individuals who wonder if the clothing they wear to the airport is important. If you are one of those individuals, you can rest assure because, in most cases, it is not.
It seems as if ever since airplanes became the popular way to travel, a focus has been placed on comfort. Regardless of whether or not you will be taking a long flight, you will want to be comfortable. Even if you are traveling for business, you should be able to change in to your business clothes as soon as you arrive at your destination, even in the airport bathrooms.
When it comes to comfort, as previously mentioned, many air travelers make the decision to wear sweat pants and a comfortable top. In addition to being comfortable, you will find, in most cases, that these types of clothes are the best for airport security, especially when entering airport screening checkpoints. This is because most sweat pants are not made with any metal items.
When it comes to clothing accessories, you will find that a number of different items set off airport metal detectors. That is why most airport security officers request that you remove all of your jewelry. Once your jewelry is removed, you will need to place it in a small bin, which will be scanned right along with your carry on luggage.
In addition to jewelry, you will find that your belt may even set off an airport’s metal detector. For that reason, a large number of airports have requested that you remove your belts before entering the metal detectors. Since a large number of travelers wear belts, this is done to help speed up the process of checking each and every passenger.
Recently, a number of new air travel rules have been implemented. One of those rules requires that all passengers remove their shoes. Your shoes, once removed, will be scanned by an x-ray machine, right along with the rest of your carry on luggage.
Another air travel rule, recently implemented, is the ban of liquids. This means that adults are no longer allowed to bring a drink on board, even bottle water. It also means that you are prohibited from placing liquid beauty supplies in your carry on luggage. One concern, made by many women is the allowance of gel or water filled bras. Currently, you are allowed to wear these types of bras on board an airplane.
Since there are really no rules or restrictions on the clothing that you can wear while flying the great skies, you need to choose for yourself.
Tips for Planning a Last Minute RV Trip

Since you, as an RV owner, do have the freedom to come and go as you please, you may be interested in taking a last minute RV trip. If so, the following tips may be able to help you do so.
One of the most important things to do for an RV trip involves mapping out your route. In all honesty, it doesn’t matter whether your trip is planned a few hours before you leave or a few weeks before, it is important to know where you will be going. It can also help to prevent you from getting lost when you are unsure of your surroundings. Speaking of which, be sure to pack a map or having a GPS installed in your motor home.
Before heading out on a last minute RV trip, it is important to make all needed reservations. You will not want to assume that all RV parks and public campgrounds have available spots. Once you have a destination in mind, you can quickly examine your options, in terms of RV parks or public campgrounds, online. Get the contact information and place a call to make reservations or at least see if they are needed.
It is also important to let someone know that you are leaving. Let those that you know, especially those who will notice if you are gone, when you will be leaving, where your intended destination is, how to get a hold of you, as well as when you can expect to return.
It is also a wise idea to quickly create a checklist for yourself. Simply write down the items that you need to bring, such as food, clothing, and toiletries. Next, write down your wants, such as a radio, a video gaming console, or movies. Then, check off the items as you pack them in your bags or place them in your RV.
In keeping with making sure you have all needed supplies, do a quick run through of your RV at the last minute. This will help you determine if you are missing anything of great importance. Do you have the needed food, pots and pans, and eating utensils?
The above mentioned tips are just a few of the many that can help you prepare for a last minute RV trip. As nice as it is to be spontaneous and hop in your motor home and leave at the last minute, it is still important to be prepared. Proper preparation is not only important for your safety, but for overall enjoyment as well.

When you travel abroad, passenger screening, as well as baggage screening holds the same amount of importance. It’s important to keep in mind that this additional screening is required, and that it’s performed in the same way for all passengers no matter where you’re from.
In situations like the ones mentioned above, try to remember that you are just one of many. You should be prepared to do this especially if you’re flying internationally. The rules and guidelines that you must follow can vary from airport to airport as well as airline to airline. Although there are many rules and restrictions, there are many differences so come be prepared for a variety of things as you travel abroad.

In order to fly abroad, everyone is going to need a passport at the very least. You’re also going to want to find out what kind of fees are involved when entering and leaving the country so that you’re not caught unawares.
Luggage checks are fairly common as are metal detectors. Even now on domestic flights, all passengers are required to remove their shoes. So, this shouldn’t come as a surprise to you when you fly overseas. Even if you get annoyed by all of these guidelines and restrictions, try to bear in mind that they’re there to protect you and the rest of the flying public from people who are up to no good. Patience is the key to getting through the security at international airports. So bring something to read, stand in line and go through the checkpoint with as much peace and harmony as you can manage.

Tips For Long Flights

One cannot avoid a long flight if the occasion arises, but one can attempt to make it as comfortable and bearable as possible. Here are some tips to help you on your long flights:
• Wear the most comfortable clothes you have. Remember that you will need to take of your jacket, shoes, etc. during security check at the airport. Dress to make that process convenient. But also remember that you are going to be in the same clothes for a long time and choose clothes according to their comfort levels. Avoid synthetic materials, tight clothes and bulky sweaters.
• Choose your seat with care. If you are likely to sleep through the flight, you may want a window seat so that you are not disturbed by other people climbing over you to access the aisle. If you are likely to need frequent toilet breaks, you may want to take up an aisle seat, so that you don’t have to climb over other passengers regularly.
• The low humidity atmosphere inside an airplane can dehydrate you. We may not realize the cause, but may start feeling uncomfortable and light headed. To avoid discomfort of this sort, ensure that you carry bottled water and sip from it regularly. Also, your skin is likely to get very dry and itchy in this atmosphere. Carry a good moisturizer or body lotion you can use in the event that you require it.
• Bring your own food if you are not likely to want to eat the food offered by the airline. You cannot stay hungry throughout a long flight. This is especially important, if you have a medical condition that requires regular food intake of specific nature.
• Most airlines provide their passengers with pillow and blanket. You may not want to use these airline-provided blankets or they may run out of them. If you are particular about using a blanket, bring your own or carry a sleeping bag to cover yourself.
• Long flight can be difficult on our joints, muscles and spine. Move around regularly to loosen stiff joints and muscles. This will help prevent cramps arising from stiffness.
